Uma is a compassionate and dedicated therapist, holding a license as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW). Uma has experience working with adolescents, adults, and families and the difficulties they face.
Uma will focus on fostering a strong therapeutic alliance and creating a safe environment where clients can explore personal narratives at their own pace. Uma's practice is rooted in a strengths-based and person-centered perspective, and emphasizes the importance of empowering clients to take control of their thoughts and emotions.
As a result of her person-centered approach, Uma understands the importance of meeting the unique needs of each client. Therefore, Uma draws from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. She is also skilled in mindfulness techniques, employing them to promote self-awareness and emotional regulation.
Uma specializes in working with Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Family Conflict, Grief, and Major Life Transitions.
Uma is a part of the queer community, the Indian-American community and is a child of immigrants. As a result of her own identities, Uma understands the importance of creating a warm and affirming space for clients of diverse backgrounds to explore their intersecting identities and how important these identities can be in our narratives.
