Sandra is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with experience supporting adolescents, adults and families experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, relationship issues and low self worth. Sandra has experience working in LGBTQ+ affirming spaces as well as with those from a variety of diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
Sandra has worked in a number of human services and mental health organizations assisting clients with various needs and presenting issues. Sandra has special experience and interest in working with individuals experiencing big life changes such as adjusting to new family or relationship dynamics and school or work transitions. Sandra has experience as a crisis counselor, helping clients through intense emotional distress in order to stabilize and receive regular treatment.
Sandra uses an eclectic range of modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and behavioral activation for depression. Sandra guides clients to practice mindfulness, radical acceptance, self-compassion and distress tolerance planning to gain mastery over their thoughts and emotions.
Using a strengths based and person-centered therapeutic approach, Sandra believes clients bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to inform their treatment. Through motivational interviewing, Sandra helps clients realize their potential for change and achieving wellness.
Sandra is passionate about working side by side with clients to gain control over troubling thoughts and emotions so they can find happiness.
