Elba L. Perez, a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York and a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey has worked with adults from diverse backgrounds facing various life challenges, including depression, anxiety, complex trauma, substance dependence, job related issues, parental challenges, divorce/separation and grief. Through this work, Elba learned that many individuals do not have equal access to quality mental health care, a disparity that has far-reaching consequences in their lives. By establishing a safe, empathic, and collaborative environment, Elba hopes clients can begin the healing process by sharing their stories and making connections between their developmental traumas, the faulty systems they have encountered, and their current circumstances. She believes strongly in clients’ ability to grow and heal because she has witnessed the progress they can accomplish when they feel seen and heard.

Through Elba’s person-centered, individualized approach, she strives to help clients identify coping mechanisms and strengths they can rely on when struggling. By incorporating therapeutic techniques and tools from motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, solutions-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy, Elba can assist clients in navigating challenges while managing their emotions and responses to everyday stressors. With compassion and respect for their stories, clients can see how they can work on themselves and achieve meaningful change in the therapeutic environment and beyond.
