Asmaa is a dedicated clinician who is committed to providing quality level mental health care. As a licensed social worker (LSW), she has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on an individualized basis. To ensure maximum efficacy, Asmaa utilizes a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to cater to the needs of each client. Asmaa applies evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT).
Asmaa is passionate about eliminating violence in our society to enact social change. As such, she pursued and completed a trauma certificate program called Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) in affiliation with Rutgers University School of Social Work. To further her educational background and clinical skill set, Asmaa was formally trained by the Cognitive Behavior Institute (CBI) in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) therapy for OCD. Moreover, Asmaa hopes to become a Certified Shame-Informed Treatment Specialist (CSTS) to advance her work with clients facing addictive eating, eating disorders, and body shaming.
Asmaa also specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and adjustment disorder.
As a member of the Pakistani-American community, Asmaa understands firsthand how culture can normalize, and often exacerbate, the stigma that comes from mental health, resulting in a negative sense of self and clashing with our core identity. To counteract this norm, Asmaa has applied a culturally sensitive approach to help clients achieve their true potential, so they can live more fulfilling lives.
